Cell Phone Expectations
well, it’s been awhile but I decided to post. This is kindof my rant and rave about cell phones. Personally, I have been looking for a new cell phone and I have checked everything from the low end to the high end cell phones, and to be honest have been quite disappointed lately. There is a huge selection of phones on the market, but they seem to be lacking is one area or another in my opinon. The phones that I feel seem to have the most class and are decently feature packed are the Sony Ericsson’s. But they still seem to fall short in a some key area’s. So here are the five area’s and requirments I feel a decent $200 to $300 dollar phone should meet.
Camera: I think that a decent camera phone should at least be megapixel and not this VGA that we are used too, also it be over 2 megapixels not the standard 1.3 on the market now. Personally I wish that a camera phone would be around 5 megapixels; becasue that way the camera on your phone would actually be useful as a camera. and considering the average camera right now has 5 megapixels or more, I think that would be a good resolution to follow, but on that same note the phone would be quite expensive and maybe over kill for some people. I just feel that phone’s for this day and age need to be multi-functional, because to have camera on you every minute of every day would be a useful and nice function. The only phone that I know that has come out with such a high resolution is the Samsung that is sporting a new 5 megapixel CCD camera.
Video: I do not feel this is a must, but if you are going to have a decent 2-5 megapixel camera on the phone, well than as an obvious second feature the phone should be able to produce video. If the camcorder features was able to produce night vision and have different effect modes based upon lighting that would be quite helpful also.
Mp3: I think that phones are getting better and better at this and I know that Sony has came out with their Walkman phones that have headphone jacks on them and Motorla has phones with the iTunes feature. But if phones were able to be mild form of an MP3 player I think that would be nice have. Obviously with that feature you would have to have a headphone jack on the phone and internal memory capacities of the phone would have to increase, but ring tone storage would be increase and to have a seperate ringtone for everyone on your phonebook would be quite interesting.
Storage: I think that with all these features I have talked about it is quite evident that storage capacity on cell phones would have to greatly increase, and memory card readers would become a must. but at that same point you can find up to 1 gig sticks for the cards that are in your phones to date. It’s just that most phones only sport up to a 64MB internal memory. So, I think if you increased that internal memory to 128 or 256MB that all of these features would be possible.
Internet: I think that internet on your phone has to be the way of the future because there are numerous times that I am on the go and obviously not even a laptop would work, but at the same time I need internet access. From mapquest, google, to perhaps an email you forgot to print out. It would be nice to access certain data from the internet while on the go.
These features I have laid out are not things that you should expect phone companies to have out in the next few months, espically for the low cost I suggested, but I do for see that in the next year or two that these features are very likely and I feel are likely now and should be strandard for phones to come. I also realize that I might be asking alot out of my phone, but I feel that it is important for manufacturs to realize that customer’s would greatly appriciate one device that could do it all, and fit inside your pocket; instead of having 4 different devices that you cannot fit in your pocket and when you need it most you don’t have it.
Top 5 reasons why the PS3 is better than the Xbox 360.
So here are my top 5 reasons why the PS3 will be better than the 360:
#1 The PS3 is already said to have the 1080p resolution which in my mind is a huge fact because the 360 sitting at 720p will be far less to work with as far as detail and the HD graphics. And w/ the PS3 having HDMI video outputs right out of the box, this is exciting because MS has not even released this feature for the 360 yet. The best cables you can get right now for the 360 are component
. Already TV’s have capability of this high resolution and why not have the next gen console take advantage of this.
#2 The 360 has come out with just an upconvert Dual-DVD player, nothing special and is already seen on the market. Sony has said that it will have the blue laser in the PS3 to be able to read Blu-ray discs. Now whether this is to counter the possibility that MS has said that they want to have the 360 with a HD-DVD player in it. I do not know. And if PS3 games are at Blu-ray capability well, than MS is playing catch up.
#3 The PS3 will have memory card readers to help display digital imaging content on your TV, and I’m sure they will have other purposes for the readers too. And whether or not you find this to be a big fact or not, I find it to be a nice feature. With seeing that many DVD players, and TV’s coming equiped w/ these readers I find it nice for my PS3 to have the abilities to read SD, Duo, and USB. The 360 does have 2 memory slots and USB, but still lacking in comparison w/ the PS3.
#4 The PS3 will be Bluetooth and will have Wi-Fi connectivity with the PSP. I feel that Bluetooth is becoming a far far greater force in the market place. And the PS3 w/ its 7 Bluetooth controllers vs. 360′s 4 controller capabilites. I think that more players on one screen if you have too is better. And the wirless connectivity with the PSP is just kindof a cool feature that you are not able to do with the 360.
#5 I think that Sony should take the mistake of MS (not having the hard drive automatically in the core bundle) and create a system and bundle it together correctly and create and have a more successful console.
I feel that Sony has the chance to beat MS in their next-gen console. Sony does need to improve upon and establish a better online atmosphere, but I know they have been working on this and hopefully they will come through. Although, I will give credit to Mr. Gates to staying true to his roots and creating a console that is truely amazing at networking. I think that he needs to watch out for Sony’s release date.
P.S. Xbox will always have Halo.
P.S.S I was wondering how Sony must feel having to have Windows installed on their computers, lol.
